About the Basic Needs Project
Since 2016, Chico State Basic Needs has helped thousands of students by providing:
🍎 Healthy food – Distributing over 120,000 meals annually, valued at $600,000.
🏠 Housing assistance – Offering emergency shelter and rental aid to prevent homelessness.
💰 Financial support – Providing grants and financial literacy counseling to ease student hardships.
This year alone, we will serve 7,000 students, sourcing 50,000 lbs of donated food and purchasing $25,000 in organic produce from the University Farm. Our Rapid Re-housing Partnership Grant supports emergency housing and rental assistance to help 50 students find stable homes.
