What is the Student Excellence Award?
The Student Excellence Award relieves students of significant financial need and supports student professional and personal development costs. Center for Healthy Communities started this award back in 2019 because students are vital to daily programming and we wanted to give back. Over the past years, we have granted 20 awards totaling $13,000. The best part is, we have been able to provide an award to all nominated students!
How do donations help students?
Award funds range from $250-$1000 and are utilized for a variety of costs. In previous years the Student Excellence Award contributed to school supplies & fees, medical bills, transportation expenses, professional certificates costs, and student loan payments.
In 2024 the Student Excellence Award supported:
- Graduate school application fees
- Urgent medical expenses
- Professional attire for career interviews
Why Your Donation Matters
Simply put, education and living costs are expensive and rising! Students are actively working to persevere through college and contribute back to their communities through their expertise.
Center for Healthy Communities, along with your help, aims to alleviate some of the many pressures students face in pursuit of their academic dreams and personal goals. Unlike restricted grant funding or scholarships, the money you contribute today can be used to directly meet students needs, without stipulations and toward the areas students need support.
“I give because these funds go directly to students in need. I know the path to graduation is challenging, and if these funds help reduce just one barrier for a student, it is worthwhile to help them succeed in achieving their goals!” - Amie
