Description
Chico SAE Baja consists of a team of students that design, build, and race an off-road vehicle. From computer simulations of our suspension, to machining a custom gearbox, our members get the opportunity to experience the entire engineering cycle. Our organization functions as a small business working in a competitive, fast-moving work environment with a mission to provide team-oriented, hands-on experience to students at Chico State. The SAE Collegiate Baja Design Series challenges teams to design, build, and market an off-road vehicle. The objective of the competition is for a fictitious firm to accept one teams’ design for manufacturing, simulating the tasks involved in introducing a new product to the consumer industrial market. If you would like to become a part of our team, please join us at our weekly meetings every Thursday at 7:00 pm in Plumas 205.
How will donations be used?
Donations will be used to help fund Drive Days, Outreach Programs, a New computer for shop (Approximately $2000), and Gorman, California competition travel expenses (the car has to be towed to Gorman, and funds are needed for members to attend).
Support the Baja Car Club!
Going to the competition is a huge reward after the whole build and test process. We want to be able to share this experience with as many members as possible. Allowing for more members to attend the competition would also benefit future engineers, project managers, and scientists toward promising careers after graduation!
Why are donations necessary?
Our team is limited by funding from the university and our sponsors. Those funds provide us with the valuable resources we need to be able to execute our designs to the best of our abilities and compete. However additional funding to attend competitions is needed. We are raising funds to allow our team to take more members to competition in Gorman, California this year. At this time it seems that unfortunately, we will only be able to take officers. With your help, we could bring more of our deserving members with us to the competition so they are prepared to become our future leaders.
