“EOP is truly about opportunities” is how one EOP alum described the program and that is exactly what we do! EOP has been providing historically low-income and first-generation college students opportunities at Chico State since 1968. Many students face a variety of obstacles as they embark on their educational journey; especially students who are the first in their family to attend college. With the support of EOP, we tackle those obstacles together. For some, that journey begins during Summer Bridge, our new student orientations, or as soon as they connect with their EOP advisor. Whenever an EOP student begins that journey utilizing education to make a better life for themselves and their families – they know that they can rely on EOP to be their constant support. Your donations will go directly toward assisting EOP as we make sure our students have everything they need to be successful here at Chico State!
How will donations be used?
$10-$20 provides snacks for finals week study sessions
$50 supports community-building activities for the EOP Student Association
$75 funds graduation cords and portfolios for EOP students
$100 may increase the amount for EOP scholarships
Support the Educational Opportunity Program!
The Educational Opportunity Program has existed within the CSU for over 50 years and was established to serve as the primary vehicle for increasing the access, academic excellence and retention of California's historically underserved students. Working with students from the time of application through graduation and being that family away from home is just the support EOP students need to complete their degree.
Why are donations necessary?
As education costs increase,
EOP faces numerous challenges in providing the financial support necessary to holistically
assist our students. Often EOP is limited in the funds we can use to support
students in community building activities (for example: a movie night,
attending a Chico State performance or simply providing snacks during finals).
With your contribution, EOP is excited to offer
our students these opportunities. We would like to increase the amount of the
Christopher T. Malone Achievement Award given to graduating seniors, along with
re-establishing the EOP Student Association. With
your gift, EOP will be able to sponsor more events to help promote community
among our students. Contingent on funds raised, we may be able to support
student employees and professional staff with professional development
opportunities. "It takes a village..." and we are asking you to join
or reconnect with the EOP village to help our cause!
