About our club
Formula SAE is an engineering challenge-based club that designs and manufactures a Formula 1 style vehicle. Students design, validate and test using industry-level software as well as fabricate and manufacture parts in-house.
How we'll use your gift
Race cars aren't cheap!
Donations will be focused toward funding the material for the car, namely in
chassis tubing, stock material for suspension, carbon fiber for aerodynamic
components, as well as required safety equipment such as a driver harness and
gear.
Support Formula SAE
Engineering students interested in careers in the automotive field benefit greatly from Formula SAE experience. For a majority of positions, this type of experience is actually required to apply. In addition, our club offers Chico State students the opportunity to learn & practice manufacturing while gaining knowledge in engineering design and handling a real-world project. Our club is also able to educate students in automotive technology - a field of study not offered by any course at Chico State
Why we need donations
The competition that our club participates in is a world-wide event run by SAE. Top universities from around the world come and compete with their cars made possible primarily by their school's budgets. For Chico State, our primary funding comes from sponsorships and donations. With the rising cost of material, it is requiring increasingly more funding to accomplish similar tasks, but we would have to surpass this goal if we are to continue to improve our design and performance in competition.
