Description

Double your impact! Thanks to a generous donation from Jon S. Gingrich all gifts to the Glass Program will be matched dollar for dollar up to $10,000!

Chico State's Glass Program is the second-oldest Glass Program in CA and one of the oldest in the country. Today, our program is one of only 4 remaining in California, with CSU remaining as the most well-known and successful still operating, making this a truly distinct academic program! In the last year, our program has nearly doubled in enrollment while funding continues to decline. If this beloved and historically significant program is going to thrive and inspire the next generation of Glass Artists, we need your support!

Support Glass Art at Chico State!

Students from all over campus take glass as part of their Chico State experience. While not all will become glass artists, this unique program provides students from every major and every corner of our community the opportunity to participate in this ancient and exciting art form. Students tell us how their time in the Glass Lab is among the best they experience in their entire time at Chico State, and is a haven from the often stressful and turbulent world of college life. For those who do choose glass as a profession, we prepare students for success with a state-of-the-art facility that allows them to explore all of the exciting ways artists interact with this material. In addition, we offer scholarships for students to attend Pilchuck Glass School, take students on no-cost field trips, and offer material support for lower-income students to create bodies of work.

Why are donations necessary?

Our mission is to lower the barriers for any student who wishes to participate fully in what the Chico State Glass Program has to offer. You can see from the sample list above that even a single item is costly. To combat budget shortfalls many programs offer students limited access, or directly charge students for out-of-class work time. This kills the spirit of community, creativity and exploration that university programs should be hallmarks of; not to mention robbing students of the crucial "time at the bench" necessary for students to gain the skills needed to be successful post graduation. Your support goes directly to ensuring that this and future generations of students from all over campus have access to the highest level of glass education, the best experience, and the best opportunity for their success.
