Description
The scholarship is in memory of Rebekah’s brother Christopher Qualls, who died in 2018 in Chico, CA. The name "Footnotes" comes from a memory of when Rebekah would write letters with her brother during his time of incarceration, rather than writing PS on a letter he would draw a footnote. This scholarship is to help fund those who are pursuing a degree in the helping profession. Rebekah is a first generation college student, inspired by those on the college campus who supported her, and kept her going; contributing to her having an MSW today.
How will donations be used?
This scholarship is intended to support Behavioral and Social Science students enrolled in the Social Work program who attended high school in Northern California. The preferred recipient is also a student who is an active participant building diversity/inclusion on campus and/or the community.
Support the Qualls Footnotes Scholarship!
Rebekah Qualls finished her Masters of Social Work in 2021. During her undergrad at CSU, Chico she unexpectedly lost her brother Christopher Qualls. Rebekah was inspired to pursue a Social Work degree after watching her brother experience incarceration at a young age of 14. Being firsthand to witness our justice system as it impacted her brother greatly throughout her adolescence, she decided to pursue higher education that would equip her with having a job to support young people, and be a caring adult in their life.
Why are donations necessary?
Supporting this scholarship directly impacts future students, many of whom face extreme difficulties while pursuing their education.
