Change a first-generation student’s life
Help us meet the academic and basic needs of first-generation, low-income students, and those living with a disability! Your donations will help our students purchase required course materials/technology, support students in crisis with emergency grants, help students with graduation fees, assist with hosting a cultural/social activity, and more. Your donations will help our students be the first in their families to walk across that graduation stage! #TRIOWorks
Why are donations necessary?
Donations are crucial for TRIO Student Support Services for several reasons:
1. Supplementing Grant Funding: While TRIO programs receive grant funding, this funding may not always cover all necessary expenses, especially given the strict budget constraints. Donations can help fill in gaps and ensure that essential services and resources are provided to students.
2. Meeting High Student Needs: TRIO students often have high needs, ranging from academic support to financial assistance and beyond. Donations can enable TRIO programs to offer additional services and resources tailored to meet these specific needs, such as tutoring, counseling, and emergency funds for students facing financial crises.
3. Enhancing Program Offerings: With additional funding from donations, TRIO programs can enhance their offerings beyond what the grant alone allows. This could include organizing workshops, providing specialized training, or offering experiential learning opportunities that enrich the educational experience for students.
4. Flexibility and Innovation: Donations provide TRIO programs with flexibility to innovate and respond quickly to emerging needs or challenges faced by students. They can be used to pilot new initiatives, implement technology solutions, or adapt services based on feedback from students and staff.
5. Long-term Sustainability: While grant funding is typically time-limited and subject to fluctuations, donations can contribute to the long-term sustainability of TRIO programs. Building a diversified funding base that includes donations can help ensure continuity of services and support for future cohorts of students.
Overall, donations play a critical role in augmenting grant funding, addressing the unique needs of TRIO students, enhancing program offerings, fostering innovation, and ensuring the long-term sustainability of TRIO Student Support Services.
