About Wildcat Discovery Camp

Wildcat Discovery Camp is a summer youth camp at Chico State for kids 7–16 years old and is all about discovering and exploring. Kids get a taste of what it's like to be on a university campus and experience learning for the fun of it.

This unique summer camp offers classes that stretch the imagination, encourage trying new things, and provide a supportive and fun environment.

  • Build and launch a rocket? Check!
  • Create a video game? Sure!
  • Learn dance, art, and other creative skills? Yep!

We put together an awesome team of people who love kids and have a passion for teaching and learning. Many of our instructors will be from Chico State liberal studies credential and graduate programs and are preparing for a career in education. In addition, our college-age camp aides will be the friendly, familiar faces that kids will connect with every day.

Help More Kids Attend Camp This Summer

We hope that more kids from our community will be able to enjoy this unique camp experience, but Wildcat Discovery Camp is funded by participant fees and the cost of attending is a bit higher than most day camps centered around outdoor and athletic offerings.

This fundraiser will allow us to expand access to camp and to the experience of being on a college campus by providing scholarships to kids from families with financial need. Recipients will be able to select morning and afternoon classes to attend during a four-day camp session.

The true gift is the awesome experience the kids will have at Wildcat Discovery Camp!

In Their Own Words...

  • It was nice that my oldest had something to look forward to. She really enjoyed the cartooning and anime class and wants to do more next year.
  • I loved hearing about experiences in the chemistry and rocket sessions. Access to true, hands-on science content, in an actual lab is a win!
  • Our son had a wonderful time at camp! The camp ambassador, Daniel, was an excellent role model and very helpful! We look forward to next year.
  • The instructors were great, and the kids had fun.
  • For my kids, ages 12 and 14, I pitched this camp as a way to try some “electives” they might not be able to try at school. My older son had a blast doing Acting Improv which he never would have committed a whole year to at school. My younger son really enjoyed video game design, which is not offered at school.
  • I love that my kiddo got to learn unique things that held her interest! I also love that the camp was on campus! Such a great experience.
