CHALLENGES AND MATCHING GIFTS

Thanks to generous support from donors across the Chico State community, there are a number of matches and challenge gifts to increase your impact and help the causes you care about!

Campaign Challenges

🌄 Ready, Set, Go!

The first gift received after midnight on March 5 will win an extra $500 in support of their cause.

Winner: Aaron Schwartz, supporting Speech & Debate Team.

🌏 Farthest Gift

The cause that receives the gift that travels the greatest distance to Chico State will receive a bonus $500.

Winner: Men's Rugby Club - 10,921 miles from Chico! (Santa Rosa, Madagascar).

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Family Affair

If three or more family members give on March 5, email givingday@csuchico.edu with your names and cause. The first three confirmed families win $500 for their cause!

  2. Jimenez Family, supporting MESA Engineering Program.
  3. McKay Family, supporting Global Student Society.

🐾 Wildcat Challenge

The Wildcat became Chico's mascot in 1924 by a vote of the student body. Today, the 1,924th donor will unlock an extra $1,924 for their chosen cause!

Winner: Dayna Ghirardelli, supporting Chico State Livestock Judging Team.

📲 Advocate Challenge

The cause that receives the most gifts via personalized advocate links by 5 p.m. PST on March 6 will earn an additional $1,000 toward their campaign.

Winner: Women's Soccer.

🌒 Last, But Not Least

The last gift received on March 5 will unlock an additional $500 toward their area of support.

Winner: Fernanda Meza, Chico State Speech & Debate (Forensics)

🎓 Alumni Donor Challenge

The cause that receives the most alumni donors will earn an additional $500 toward their campaign.

Winner: MESA Engineering Program.

🧑‍🏫 Faculty/Staff Donor Challenge

The cause that receives the most faculty/staff donors will earn an additional $500 toward their area of support.

Winner: Dream Center.

Chico State Challenges

These challenges are generously provided by current and former University Foundation Board Members in support of the Ahmad and Jennifer Boura Scholarship fund.

🏫 Founder's Challenge

Construction officially began on Chico State Normal School at Chico in 1887. This year, the 1,887th donor will unlock a match of $1,887 to support student scholarships.

🌳 Community Challenge

Our community rallied together to raise $10,000 to secure the placement of the northern branch of the State Normal School in Chico in 1887. A $10,000 match to support scholarships is unlocked when we reach $332,215 (the value of $10k today).

🧑‍🎓 Senior Class Gift Challenge

Gifts of $20.25 or more to any cause from graduating seniors will earn them the Wildcat Spirit Cord to wear at graduation. This year, 50 senior class gifts will unlock an additional $2,025 for student scholarships.

For every 10 state milestone, a matching gift to support student scholarships is unlocked! 

  • 10 States = $5,000 - Unlocked
  • 20 States = $7,000 - Unlocked
  • 30 States = $10,000 - Unlocked
  • 40 States = $15,000 - Unlocked
