Frequently Asked Questions

What is Chico State Giving Day?

Chico State Giving Day is a day for you to show that ’Cats give back and support what you love about the University. This year, Giving Day is Wednesday, March 5, 2025, from midnight to 11:59 p.m. This 24-hour fundraising drive unites the entire Wildcat family of students, alumni, parents, faculty, staff, and friends in support of our University. Campaign teams reach out to supporters and inspire them to become donors.

Why should I give to Chico State?

Quite simply, every gift helps our students succeed! Your support strengthens the faculty and programs that shape thousands of lives each year. Giving Day is your opportunity to amplify impact by supporting the campus initiatives you care about most—whether it's supporting student scholarships, academic success, athletics, or sustainability.

What if I want to give to a cause that's not listed on this site?

With campaigns from across campus participating in Giving Day, we hope you can find one that matches your passion—including the Chico State Fund, which supports students’ greatest needs and creates new opportunities.

However, if you’d like to give to a cause that’s not listed, please use our main giving form. All gifts made using our main giving form during Giving Day will still count towards the day’s goals but won’t appear in the live total on this site or count toward unlocking challenges. Don't worry though—at day's end, we'll combine all gifts, and your contribution will make a significant impact for our Wildcats!

How do I give on Giving Day? Can I write a check?

The fastest way is to give online, which allows your gift to be counted in real-time and qualifty for matching funds.

If you'd like to send a check by mail, please make it out to the CSU, Chico University Foundation, and indicate in the memo line the project you are supporting and "Giving Day." Mail to

If you have payment questions or would like to pay by credit card over the phone, please call Gift Processing at 530-898-4488.

Can I give more than once and to more than one cause?

Yes! In fact, your impact will be much greater if you do.

Want to do more? Become an Advocate! You can help your favorite cause acheive their goals by sharing their page with your friends, family, and on your social media.

Can I make a gift in person on Giving Day?

Yes! The best way to make a gift on Giving Day is online, but you can drop off cash or checks and meet some of our participating campus groups during our tabling fair.

This year, our tabling fair will be at Trinity Commons on Wednesday, March 5 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

How do challenge and matching gifts work?

Challenge gifts unlock when specific milestones are reached during Giving Day—like number of donors or gifts from certain regions. These are funded by leadership donors who want to inspire and motivate our Wildcat Community on Giving Day. View details on our Challenges and Matching Gifts page.

Matching gifts double your impact by matching donations dollar-for-dollar to specific funds, up to a set amount. Interested in creating a matching gift? Contact givingday@csuchico.edu.

Is there a minimum donation amount?

Yes, there's a $5 minimum to offset processing fees. Every gift matters, whether it's $5 or $500!

My company has a donation matching program. How does that work?

Many employers sponsor matching gift programs and will match charitable contributions to the University made by their employees. Generally, the employee must complete and sign a form provided by their company.

See if your employer will match your donation!
